Know Where to Throw

"Know Where to Throw" is an in-person presentation hosted by the Office of Sustainability. This presentation reviews the basics of recycling in NYC in a fun, engaging. and memorable way. It will help demystify some of the rules around what can and cannot be recycled in NYC, and why.

What is covered in the presentation?

Office of Sustainability presenters will arrive with an array of example items to be sorted into various bins found around campus and in NYC. Participants will have a chance to sort the items as they see fit, working as a team to place each item into the appropriate bin. Then, the presenters will explain what can be recycled in each of the bins, identifying the few items that must go into the trash. They will also cover alternative ways of disposing of hard-to-recycle items, such as potato chip bags, using available take-back programs that exist today.

How long is the presentation?

The presentation can take between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on group size. If your team includes more than 20 people, please specify this in your presentation request.
