Columbia Design Challenge Launch: 2020 Census

September 6, 2019
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
America/New_York
Mudd Hall, 500 W. 120 St., New York, NY 10027 451 Lecture Hall
This year's design challenge starts on September 6! The Census 2020 Design Challenge aims to generate innovative interdisciplinary technoloy solutions that could impact New York City's participation in the 2020 Census. The Census is one of the greatest civil rights issues we are facing right now. As New Yorkers, our fair share of over $700 billion a year allocated by the federal government is at stake. This is funding for public education, public housing, senior centers and dozens of critical programs. You will hear from Columbia Engineering Dean Mary Boyce, the Director of the NYC Office of the Census 2020, and from faculty experts across the university. We invite students from all schools at the university to participate in this exciting opportunity to address a complex and future-facing problem. Individuals and teams from all backgrounds are welcome. Bring your passion for solving real problems!
