Webinars

The Office of Sustainability is offering a series of webinars this spring called “Getting to Campus: Travel Tips for Columbians Living in or Near NYC.” The sessions will highlight Columbia’s transportation offerings, provide tips to reduce your carbon footprint, and improve how you move to and from campus – and around New York City. Register for one of the webinar dates below to receive a Zoom link closer to the session.

Webpages

The Office of Sustainability has put together some carefully selected commute options for both New Jersey and Westchester commuters. These helpful webpages can be found on the Columbia Transportation website, along with many other commute resources.

About Transportation Demand Management (TDM) at Columbia

The Office of Sustainability’s TDM professional and the office’s Sustainable Development intern researched this information to encourage more sustainable commuting, as well as to provide commute options that can improve affiliates' lifestyles.

Every two years, Columbia surveys affiliates via email to understand how they commute. The information is used for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting and to evaluate adding new services to reduce the impact of commuting. Data tells us that most people at Columbia with a driving commute are coming from New Jersey or Westchester County and points north.

As part of Columbia's sustainability efforts, the University seeks to reduce emissions and congestion from commute travel to campus. Columbia encourages everyone to consider a sustainable commute like transit, carpooling, or biking, instead of driving alone in a fossil-fuel-powered vehicle.
