Kiran is currently pursuing her MBA at Columbia Business School and joined the Office of Sustainability to advance projects that support the University's Plan 2030 commitments. Her work focuses on strengthening the systems and processes that influence environmental impact across the institution, from purchasing decisions and supplier relationships to resource use and materials management.
Prior to Columbia, Kiran worked in strategy and advisory roles within the public finance and water sectors. Through this experience, she developed a practical understanding of sustainability as a tool for organizations to make better decisions, use resources more effectively, and build stronger operations over the long term.
At Columbia, Kiran is supporting efforts to integrate sustainability considerations into procurement practices and operational decision-making, building on the Office of Sustainability’s existing procurement framework. Her work contributes to the University's broader goals of reducing environmental impacts while improving efficiency and resource stewardship across campus operations.
In addition to her professional experience, Kiran is a certified water sommelier, a credential that reflects her longstanding personal interest in water, resource stewardship, and sustainable operations, which are necessary to preserve this limited resource.
"I'm especially interested in how sustainability can become part of core business and institutional decisions in ways that are practical, measurable, and built to last," Kiran said.
The Office of Sustainability looks forward to Kiran's contributions as the University continues advancing its sustainability objectives through collaborative, data-informed, and operationally focused initiatives.
