The Office of Sustainability offered community members insight into Columbia’s sustainability initiatives and goals, as well as updates on Plan 2030. Dan Allalemdjian, Director of Sustainability and Transportation, informed guests about transportation services Columbia offers to reduce environmental impact, such as shuttle buses and bike resources. The Office of Sustainability also provided information about how to appropriately sort waste, supporting Columbia’s and New York City’s goals to divert waste from landfill.
Other sustainability-related highlights of the event included music from Columbia Climate School’s Bash the Trash, who used recycled goods like tins and buckets to make music and bring joy to visitors. Pedego Electric Bike – a Harlem vendor that sells electric bikes – was also present at the event.
